Why are we doing this?

You are helping me to honor my late son, Brian Oberhofer's, short life.  Brian lived for 4 very short days. He was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, his left ventricle did not form properly.  His heart was unable to pump blood once his mitral valve closed. All donations to Brian's Team will benefit the Herma Heart Institute to help other children with heart defects.  Herma Heart Institue provides comprehensive heart care from the prenatal period into adulthood.  The Herma Heart institute is one of the nation's top pediatric heart programs and the largest in the state of Wisconsin. 

Community investment in Wisconsin’s kids has afforded many of Children’s amazing accomplishments and has helped to pave the way for an exciting future. Here is a snapshot of what community support has enabled:

~ Translational research that improves patient care and outcomes and continues to move toward cellular therapies that will eventually prevent disease

~ Countless programs and services that support families and are not reimbursed by Medicaid or other insurance

~ Sustained extraordinary care in our heart program, leading the country with a nationally ranked, outcomes-based program

Walking as a team at Briggs & Al’s Run & Walk sends out a huge shout of support to the kids cared for by Children’s, and raises critical funds to support their care. It’s also a lot of fun, with kid-focused activities and entertainment all the way!
