I am glad you found yourself to my fundraising page. I hope you click on the "donate" button as this is a cause that is near and dear to my heart...my soul.
For those of you that don't know, I came to know Children's in September 18, 2017 when my grandson, Asher, was born. To be blunt, I wish I had never come to know it...and I hope none of you ever have to use their services...but I KNOW, I was incredibly lucky it was in my backyard. My grandson was born with a series of issues, none of which made any sense to me...colpocephaly, agenesis of the corpus callosum, neuronal migration disorder, congenital ventriculomegaly...bottom line his brain was not fully formed and he was going to have a tough time and ultimately a short 20 month life. That short life touched me so deeply and changed my life so intently. In those 20 months, we had 15 overnight stays at Children's, one ambulance ride, a few broken speed limit trips, one brain surgery...and so much love and care from the doctors and nurses at Children's it was incredible.
The nurses and doctors and the special needs program were just absolutely amazing. He ultimately lost his battle and died in my daughter's arms at our home under the care of hospice in July 1, 2019.
This year's Run and Walk for Children's is September 17th, the day before Asher's birthday, when he would have turned 5 years old. In his memory, in support of that wonderful place where we spent too much time, I will walk with my daughter and family, honor his name, his memory, his spirit. I've set a goal to raise $10,000, for his 5th birthday. Please help me support this terrific institution.
