Hello! Thank you so much for coming to my Briggs & Al's Run & Walk page. This event and the mission it supports mean a lot to me and I am thrilled you took the time to stop by. Thank you.
Why am I doing this?
Well...that's complicated. As most of you know, I participated for the first-time last year in support of my grandson (hence the "Betting on Asher" team name). Just over a month ago, my world came crashing around me when Asher "earned his wings" on July 1st. I was, I am, heartbroken and our family didn't think we could walk this year but recently, Kelsey decided we needed to participate. I’ve learned a lot this past almost two years, including when Kelsey says something regarding Asher, we do it. So here we go…
Last year we celebrated his first birthday the same weekend as the walk. This year we will celebrate what would have been his 2nd birthday but we will also celebrate the 21 months we had with him. 21 months that were made possible because of Children's Hospital and the incredible team of caregivers we had the great fortune to get to know. I will walk to help ensure that all children that follow Asher's path get the same terrific support and treatment that he received...that we received. It will be a painful day, but it will be a day when I can walk for him, perhaps even with him, one more time.
In his short 21 months, Asher was admitted 14 times for care at Children’s. Each time brought a new set of experiences and new set of difficulties. There was one constant, the terrific people of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. We walk for them, we walk for the kids. Last year, I promised to RUN if I raised $10,000. This year, I have the same dollar goal but I won’t be running as I need to be sure to be surrounded by my family for this journey. Please, donate today. I can absolutely promise you, our kids need your help.
