Hello! Welcome to my Briggs & Al's Run & Walk fundraising page. This event and the mission it supports mean a lot to me and I hope you will take a moment and read about why I am participating in this amazing event!

Why am I doing this?

On July 15th, 2 days after our son Ben's 23rd Birthday, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Rhabodmyosarcoma. Our world was turned upside down that day! The previous weeks of appointments, tests, scans and biopsies, followed by 1st, 2nd and 3rd opinions were some of the hardest days of our lives. All very foreign and so scarey to us. Because Ben's cancer is found primarily in young kids and adolescense, we landed at Children's Hospital of Milwaukee.  From the very first visit we all knew we were where we needed to be. We left with hope and determination and were all ready for the long journey we were about to embark on.  

Ben started treament on August 5th.  He will receive Chemo treatments every week for 40 weeks along with radiation and maybe suregery down the road. 

Ben is so incredibly strong! He has already been through so much to start out this battle, but he just rolls with the punches. Whatever they say or do he accepts with grace. He see's the positive side, keeps his head up and keeps smiling. I am in awe of his continued strength. He is my hero!

The care and compassion combined with all the knowledge of every single person we have come into contact with is beyond words. His team of Doctors and nurses are amazing. They have spent so much time getting to know Ben and us personally. They all work together to give the best care and treatment plans customized for Ben.  

By running or walking in this event, the funds I raise support care for kids, from life-saving cancer and heart treatments all the way to life-changing community care. Every day, Children’s is working to make Wisconsin’s kids the healthiest in the nation and my fundraising is critical to this work.
