Hi, my name is Henry.  I am 9 months old, and I was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS).  During my first stay of 171 days in the Children’s WI CICU, I fought my way through 2 open heart surgeries, 2 catheter procedures, a blood clot, stroke, cardiac arrest, ECMO life support, pneumonia, Covid-19, among various other complications.  I was able to be at home for 2-1/2 months (with a handful of clinic visits and short inpatient stays) while my parents and the Interstage team monitored me closely.  Unfortunately, my most recent catheter procedure showed that I am no longer a good candidate for the next staged surgery.  Therefore, I am now back in the CICU as I await a heart transplant.  Update: I suffered another major stroke and subsequent pneumonia, from which I am slowly recovering.  Once in a better neurological state, I’m hoping to be relisted for transplant.
