Our community helped us raise more than $1 million!
Once again, our supporters rallied for the kids and raised more than $1 MILLION during Briggs & Al's Run & Walk, held Saturday September 19 in downtown Milwaukee. Every year, this event humbles us — there is a virtual sea of people gathered in support of Children's Hospital and the kids we serve. Our gratitude goes to the 16,000 employees, families, community members and volunteers who joined us on our special day of celebration, and of course to our dedicated and generous sponsors: Briggs & Stratton, Boston Store, Marquette University and Tricom Funding.
During its nearly 40-year history, this much-loved event has raised more than $16 million through gifts and pledges. Money raised goes to support Children's Hospital of Wisconsin's research, advocacy, care and education efforts throughout the state. Learn more.
In September, we honor Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
We have been seeing GOLD in September for Childhood Cancer Awareness month! Check out 7-year-old Mason surrounded by the gold balloons that filled our Northwestern Mutual Day Hospital within our MACC Fund Center. Stay strong Mason!
The MACC Fund Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's was named among the nation's best in U.S. News World & Report 2015-16 Best Children's Hospitals report. In an environment of hope and comfort, our specialized doctors and nurses care for kids with the help of dedicated experts in social work, psychology, pharmacy, nutrition, child life and physical therapy.
Our research program is consistently ranked among the top 10 institutions nationwide for the number of children enrolled in early phase studies. This means that our kids are able to receive treatments not available at all pediatric hospitals. And our care doesn't stop once our kids are better. Childhood cancer, blood disorders and bone marrow transplants carry long-term effects that can impact a child's health long after remission, Our Survivorship program is designed to follow a child through the years, ensuring the best quality of life possible.
All of this is made possible because of philanthropy, and the people who support this world-class program right here in Milwaukee. Thank you!
"The success of Children's is rooted in community philanthropic support. Philanthropy helps us make our research and clinical care major league." — Dr. David Margolis, program director, Bone Marrow Transplant, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.
